Communication Tools
Blackboard has several tools used for collaboration with others. Some of these tools are available to all users, while other specialized tools are add-on products for which we may not have access. Your instructors may include all or some of these tools on the Communication menu. But as a minimum, all courses will utilize Group Pages and the Send Email tool.

Blackboard has a very convenient e-mail tool, accessed from the Communication button. Select a recipient type (see Figure 20 below) then proceed to enter and submit your message.

Note that All Users includes anyone with access to the course, to include students, instructors, teaching assistants, and guests. All Student Users narrows the selection to just classmates (not instructors or guests). Alternatively, you may Select Users to individually select recipients, or Select Groups to send email to a specific work group or team assigned by the instructor.

Note about Group Emails
If you are assigned to a group for a particular project or assignment you can either select individual recipients or use the Group Pages section of Blackboard. This area provides the same familiar tools (e.g. Send Email and Discussion Board), used for all class members, except the recipients here will be just those members of your group. Access Group Pages from the Communications menu (underneath the blue buttons).
