Assignments Course Content

The folders accessed by clicking the Assignments button contain the instructions and submission drop boxes for most graded assessment activities, except for forum discussions. When you click the link for a specific assessment you will view detailed instructions and usually a grading rubric. To organize assignments, your instructor will create sub-folders for each module, often with a short description or summary of the contents on the main assignments page, as illustrated below:

In some cases, instructors might prefer to post here only a brief description, with a link to detailed instructions and rubrics in the Course Documents area. Regardless of where faculty post detailed instructions, you will submit your assignments, unless instructed otherwise, by clicking the link found at the end of the assignment text that reads:

>>View/Complete Assignment

The resulting page may appear identical to the first, but adds a text box for your comments, and more importantly, a tool for attaching documents. Faculty in the SL&IT program will rarely want you to type entire assignments in the comments , box, unless the assignment is very short (less than a page). See Figure 10 below for an example assignment completion screen.

Also note that you can save your work for later submission, but since you will send attachments most of the time there is little reason to do this. In other words, you will generally work offline, on your computer, and submit one or more attached files when ready.
