"Laura Bush 21st Century Librarian Program"

An Institute of Museum and Library Services Federal Grant Award

What exactly does the Building Leaders scholarship money cover?

Successful applicants who receive a Building Leaders scholarship receive a 50 or 75 percent tuition reduction. The reduction is applied directly to the student’s in-state or out-of-state tuition rate before tuition bills are mailed.

The scholarship money applies to any School Library & Info Technologies graduate courses that are taken during any semester or summer session up to December 31, 2010. Students, however, must pay the separate Education and Technology fees each semester. Current fees are listed at:

(refer to the online course section).

If I am a Building Leaders Scholarship student, do I need to reapply each semester for the Building Leaders funds?

No, as long as certain obligations are met as listed below, you will automatically receive the Building Leaders tuition reduction scholarship each semester and summer session that you register up to and including Fall 2010 semester.

As a Building Leaders Scholarship student, what are my Scholastic Responsibilities?

  • Must take LSC 5500 (Introductory Seminar) as the first course.

  • Maintain at least a 3.0 GPA each semester in each course.

  • Take at least one course each semester, including summers (unless a "break" is pre-approved by the scholarship director).

As a Building Leaders Scholarship student, what are my Fiscal Responsibilities?

  • Pay your portion of the tuition including the Education and Technology fees each semester prior to registering for the next semester.

  • If you drop a class, it must be pre-approved by the Scholarship Director. If you drop a class after the official University drop date, you will be charged whatever fees and tuition that Student Accounts assigns and no scholarship funds will be applied.

  • If you do not complete a class that results in a failure, you are liable for the full tuition amount for the course. No scholarship funds will be applied.
